Mentor Visit – Bernard Suen

When I was planning the Startup Bootcamp a few months ago, I was fortunate enough to have met Bernard Suen, who is a serial entrepreneur, mentor and educator. I first met Bernard at The Chinese University of Hong Kong Center for Entrepreneurship

Bernard Suen at Startup Bootcamp

Bernard also gave an informative talk on the entrepreneurial attitude: especially on how to learn and understanding trends.

  • Learn on someone else’s dollar.
  • Understand trends to help you project your market size.
  • Don’t develop in a vacuum. Instead co-develop with real users. Create situations or join programs that will support you and give you validated learning while you are building your new company.

That fits perfectly in the focus for week two of Startup Bootcamp: getting out of the building and testing your hypothesis. And then preparing to be surprised.

Thanks, Bernard!
